2012-13 Gallipoli, Western Front and Barendrecht

201213 Gallipoli Western Front and BarendrechtIn April 2013, 10 students spent their school holidays visiting battlefields at Gallipoli, the Western Front and, for the first time, Barendrecht in the Netherlands.

The recipients were:

  • Bayley Charalambous, Lavalla Catholic College, Traralgon
  • Sarah Jacks, Ballarat High School, Ballarat
  • Whitney James, Benalla College, Benalla
  • Luke Stacey, Sacred Heart College, Yarrawonga,
  • Laura Carmichael, St Mary Mackillop College, Swan Hill
  • Nathan Di Teodoro, Mazenod College, Mulgrave
  • Cameron Mansell, Tarneit Senior College, Tarneit

Teachers Belinda Irving from Narre Warren's Fountain Gate Secondary College and Ben Lee from Bendigo's Weeroona College chaperoned the students during the 2013 overseas tour.

The students received expert guidance of the history of the battlefields on the study tour from Professor Bruce Scates, Professor of History and Australian Studies at Monash University.

Students recorded their experiences and photos in regular blog entries.
